Google's viral AI podcast tool just got more useful

NotebookLM's Audio Overview feature generates AI podcast-style conversations from uploaded source material. Google has added customisation in response to user demand.

Product lead Raiza Martin says the new Customise button lets users direct the AI hosts toward specific topics or adjust expertise levels before generating the conversation. Upload material on, say, the 2024 Presidential Election, and you can narrow the conversation to a specific campaign detail rather than a generic overview.

A paid business version is in pilot, with broader pricing and availability to be announced later in 2025. The arc is clear - the next generation of AI tools competes on user control, not just output quality.
